Ramblings

Bird Flu, nuclear weapons, climate change, cancer, aids, etc...etc. It's funny that we still have time to fight amongst ourselves. Sometimes its good to think about tomorrow...about where we might be without all that we presently overconsume. Yet, it seems we suffice to gratify ourselves with the immediate conflicts we create and choose to inflame. Yes, we could go to war with Iran if we wanted, perhaps we will, in a way we already are...just throwing gas on the flames. It's funny how so many religions profess love and grab for war. Don't like people you see on TV? Sure that's exactly who they are. Doesn't pre-emption always sound good to the pre-emptors. I wonder how many count the casualties. Is it a civil war? Oh no, definitely not! We can't give names that make us look bad. Who suffers more? Your name or our people?

Oh that I could I find peace, a people who would refuse vengeance. That the cross would mean something more than a free ride. That examples would be followed. That Dr. King wouldn't be a holiday but a culture. That my patron saints would be more than faces on my wall. That people would talk. That maturity wouldn't mean stubborness, selfrighteousness and a quick defensive response. That love would mean life for all, not the rich or priveledged by birth. That heaven wouldn't be a club with tickets for those who believe in Adam and Eve. That India would follow Gandhi not the global trend of nuclear armament. Peace...

3/11/06

I have decided to open a place where I will speak directly on political, religious, and philosophical issues that I understand to be critically important today in our societies, neighborhoods and relationships with each other and the world over. I hope not to speak in doctrinal terms in forming my opinions. My opinions are not necessarily true or my own, they are simply reflections of the place I am today. I understand that to be formed by my experience and therefore maleable. Yet at the same time, my views must be put into action. I understand action to be the only way to test your views and correct them so to be identified with truth after your earthly journey is complete. I don't believe we as human beings have the right to speak in absolutes, we are all to share with each other, realizing that we are one in a large family each dependent upon the other for our survival and wellbeing. None of our actions goes unfelt by the rest of our family.

That said you will notice my comments will often revert to the issue of international violence in many arenas. For what its worth, this is one outlet in which I hope to offer what my experience and encounter with each of you and countless others has formed in my understanding of action, being and response to life as it is. Please respond with comments, questions of clarification, etc. to allow this to be a conversation and not a place of comfortable venting for me.
Salaam, Shalom, and Peace my friends.
