One life worth all the time and energy. One face we could not forget. Who could imagine it would face such terror?
Cpl Gilad Shalit, I pray for your release. Nothing in this world could justify your taking and nothing could make it right to bring upon you harm.
I only wish you and your leaders could realize the mirror image of this action. You're enemies suffer the same fear. You are one man. You're captors know many more faces, lost only this past week. Just as they came for you, they came for your captors brothers. Their fathers, sisters and sons now lie in your prisons.
You are now recognized. Your sworn enemies have lowered a banner you never believed they would. In the same moment your brothers edge to the brink of your holder's borders. Your captors ask for the release of their brothers and sisters. With that you may go free. You're countrymen have told me that they were interested in peace. I must believe that in the face of all this madness their action is suicidal for you and for peace.
To make peace with the enemy you must come to understand their concerns and hopes. You are one life to the many Palestinian's that may pass with continued bombardment. Just count the deaths of this past week. Security is as much a hope of theirs as it is for you. And your country has not offered that hope, neither in the past week nor 60 years. I hope and pray that it may go well for you, but in the same way I hope it goes for all those Palestinians in your same position on the other side.
